DIY Chirstmas Cards. Easy and Beginner.

Hello loves,
Now that I am back from my adventures and finally settled back into my routine I will be continuing to blog, not about travel, although I will be planning some holidays for the not to distant future. For now it is the season to be jolly. This year because I was away all of November Christmas really snuck up on me. Now it is right around the corner and I am really excited. I've got my Christmas playlist playing and a little Christmas Tree in the lounge room and I am feeling the Christmas spirit.

So I decided, since I am getting more into arts and crafts lately, I would like to make some cards. They are all super easy and on a scale on 1 - 10, 1 being beginner and 10 being expert, they are about -1 because they are that easy. So I hope you get some inspiration to make your own Christmas cards and I'll show you how I made mine. Now this is usually something you would do with children, but since I have none and no friends to borrow them off, I just decided that I wouldn't let that hold me back and I would make them myself. So without further ado here are the things that I used.

Things I used ( and you may need)
- Paints (I used acrylic and a smidge of watercolour)
- Coloured paper (I only used black and white)
- Brushes
- Pencils (To sketch so any pencil will be fine)
- X-acto Knife
- Sharpie
- Glitter (Optional) \
- Paper or blank cards (I used watercolor paper)
-Glue

Now before we get into how I made the first design. It's important that we have cards to put our design on. So I used an A4 piece of watercolor paper and cut it in half then just folded those in halves to make little cards.

For the first step I drew a basic outline of what I wanted. I find this is an extra step, but still important because as someone who is new to arts and crafts I make a lot of mistakes. If you are an expert, or you just want to wing it. Then you can probably skip this step.
Next I drew over my lines with my trusty black sharpie.

To create the bauble circles. I didn't trust myself to just free hand them so I used coins to draw around.

Then it was as simple as painting in the baubles.
I chose green and red as traditional Christmas colours, but of course you can choose whichever colours you life. I also left a couple blank because I wanted to put glitter in them. If you don't have glitter you can leave them white or add in any other colours.

I then just added on the glitter over the top with my finger, I would recommend waiting for the first layer of paint to dry before this, but if you are impatient like me, just be careful not to smudge it to blend the colours together, unless that's the look you are going for.

Then voilĂ  you have your first christmas card.

Christmas card two! For this card I used my fingers to paint the baubles. I thought it would be a bit more quirky and personal this way. This is one of those times where I would have borrowed a child had I thought of it sooner.

First off I just outlined in lead where I wanted to place the lights, so that when I finger printing I would kind of have an idea of where to put them

Then it was time to get a little messy. I made sure to wear my painting overalls because I have a habit of smearing paint all over my clothes. So I didn't really have any sort of plan just to place them close-ish to the line that I had drawn.

After there was enough lights for my liking and more than enough paint on my overalls. I just grabbed my handy dandy sharpie once again and drew over my line and drew little attachments to the fingerprints and wrote a little Merry Christmas down the bottom

The third and final card is probably my favorite because who doesn't love a cute little snowman. Despite the fact that it is summer and really hot over Christmas in Australia, I think everyone loves a cute snowman.

First off I cut out the circle, using the coin again and the hat, both with my x-acto knife and stuck them to the card with a little glue. Then I painted J and Y so the snowman's head looked like the O.

Then I just had to paint on his face and the stripes on the letters so make them a little candycane-like.

Super easy, but super cute.

I hope you enjoyed my first DIY project on this blog. I will be posting a couple more Christmas posts before Christmas is upon us. I hope you are all as excited as I am for the Christmas season. With all the love and joy what's not to love.
Thank you so much for reading. I wish you all the merriest of Christmas seasons.
